Any gift for Mole day on the 23rd October?
If you have been wondering what mole we are talking about here, you are not alone. When I first heard of a Mole day, a lot of things went into my medulla.
Are we talking of a mole the animal, a mole person(snitch or spy), or a mole growth on the skin. If you are on the same wavelength then without disrespect you are unfortunately wrong!
The Mole day here is more of a chemistry stuff. If you don’t belong to the sciences, you might need to dig deeper into the chemistry course that you dropped half way or just do as what we mortal do these days – just google it!
The Mole day is celebrated annually on October 23rd from 6:02 am t0 6:02 pm to commemorate Avogadro’s Number (6.02 x 1023).
I know I lost some of you there.
Why do we have Avocados in chemistry?
I remember in my school days, the name Avogadro always made me think of Avocados.
Avogadro’s number has nothing to do with avocados. It is a basic measuring unit of Chemistry that is used to measure the weight of molecules. The person behind this measurement is Amadeo Avogadro (1776- 1858).
Amadeo Avogadro discovered that one mole of any substance contains (6.02 x 1023) units irrespective of the weight compared to other substances.
I know that’s too much to chew for some of us, we actually don’t need to learn all this right?
However, what we need to know is what kind of gift can you give to that lab technician, lab assistant or a chemistry maniac who has no time to spare outside the lab on this very occasion – the 23rd of October.
